The only human hit by a meteorite

The only documented case of a human being directly Only Human Hit By A Meteorite occurred on November 30, 1954, in Sylacauga, Alabama. Ann Hodges was napping on her couch when a meteorite, about the size of a grapefruit, crashed through her roof, bounced off a radio, and struck her on the side. The impact left her with a severe bruise but did not cause any life-threatening injuries. The meteorite was later confirmed to be a chondrite, a type of stony meteorite. The incident attracted significant media attention, and the meteorite became known as the "Hodges Meteorite." Despite offers from various collectors to buy the meteorite, Ann Hodges ended up keeping it. It is now displayed at the Alabama Museum of Natural History.

The space rock, weighing about 8.5 pounds (3.8 kg), ricocheted off a radio and then hit her on the side, causing a large bruise. The meteorite, a fragment of the Sylacauga meteorite (sometimes called the Hodges meteorite), made Hodges famous overnight. She became the first and only person in recorded history to be directly struck by a meteorite and live to tell the tale. This unique occurrence made headlines around the world, and the meteorite is now displayed at the Alabama Museum of Natural History.
